The inspiring transformation of a contemporary artist

Jean-Marc Calvet is a contemporary painter from Nice, who now exhibits worldwide. With over fifteen solo shows in the United States since 2005, his work is now featured in the permanent collections of various museums and foundations across the Atlantic, from the Flint Museum in Michigan to the Museum of Arts & Design in Miami, Florida. but also at the Rozas Bottran Foundation in Guatemala or at the Ortiz Gurdian Foundation in Nicaragua where he was one of the winners of the Biennale

Through his painting, Jean-Marc CALVET transports us into his world of characters, half god, half demon with wide eyes, open mouths that seem to scream, then call out and make everyone react.

Between Urban Art, Free Figuration and Neo-Expressionism, undoubtedly inspired by the Latin American culture where he lived for nearly twenty years, the paintings of the contemporary artist capture the visitor's attention, then draw the eye into the meanders of the canvas; we discover them, from afar at first, by a form, then, as we get closer, a multitude of intertwined stories, life... .
